City (Castle) Mountain is a mountain in the centre of Kosovo, 450 metres above sea level. The top offers a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding villages, as well as views of the Pokutsko-Bukovina Carpathians.
In good weather, not only the whole of Kosiv is clearly visible, but also the highest point of the city - Mount Mikhalkiv, as well as Mount Zinyakov Verkh (Sopka). The mountain is home to black alpine pines, which are unique to Prykarpattia. The mountain is also called Zamkova. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, there was a fortress there that protected the town's residents from the raids of Crimean Tatars and opryshkos. The remains of the ramparts are still visible today. The mountain's peculiarity is its Neogene sandstones, which are clearly visible from the south side.
At the foot of the mountain there is a monument to Mykhailo Horbovyi, a patriot of Ukraine who lived under the mountain. His house, although in poor condition, has survived to this day and is located opposite the monument.
