Museum of the Maliavsky family

Museum of the Maliavsky family

Address: Kosiv, 1 Tykha St. The museum contains works by artist Hennadii Maliavskyi, a former graduate of the Lviv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts.

"A person should be closer to nature. It cleanses the soul, makes one kind, honest and spiritually rich." Who hasn't heard this truth? Perhaps that is why landscape themes dominate in Maliavskyi's works. Each work conveys a quivering sense of nature, love for the beauty of Hutsul nature and the beauty of mountains, rivers, forests and waterfalls. There are works in oil, tempera, and graphics. Architecture is represented ethnographically.

The artist's wife Anastasiia Maliavska has a good collection of old traditional patterns. She continues and develops the glorious traditions of folk embroidery of her native land. Anastasiia has persistently mastered rich stylistic components, characteristic ornaments and creates compositions with a unique range of colours and extraordinary purity of execution.

The Kosiv Children's Art School has four halls with exhibitions. The first hall is an exhibition of paintings by Ukrainian cultural figures Ivan Franko, Taras Shevchenko and Lesya Ukraina. The second hall is dedicated to the founding of the Hutsul Art Union by prominent people. The third hall is dedicated to architecture, where architectural and spiritual monuments of ancient times are collected. The fourth hall contains various expositions.
